The Master of Accountancy (MAcc) program requires a minimum of 30 credit hours of graduate studies: 15 hours in the required core, nine accounting elective hours, and six graduate business elective hours. A student may take nine-to-15 accounting elective hours by selecting an emphasis, or by choosing courses from a combination of different areas. North Carolina State University's Jenkins Master of Accounting (MAC) program is preparing the accountants of the future to be leaders in their field. Over four non-consecutive weeks, each participant will experience a series of learning modules focusing on the four key phases of Lean implementation: Plan, Pilot, Deploy and Integrate. In between the weeks of training, students need to apply the methods that they have learned in operations at their own companies and present their results to the class.

It is required that each participant in the program have a corporate sponsor to attest to the participant´s qualification for the program and to the results achieved through the homework assignments.

Participants who successfully complete the four-week training and mentoring program, pass the two-hour certification exam and demonstrate successful implementation in their own facility are then certified by Productivity Inc. and Fisher College of Business as Lean Managers.

The General Assembly made a request through UNC General Administration and President Tom Ross for a group of UNC faculty to analyze the proposed changes in the North Carolina tax system. I have testified before the U.S. Senate Committee on Finance as well as the North Carolina General Assembly's finance committees in both the House and Senate.

I am involved in North Carolina tax policy issues having served as the Chief of Staff of North Carolina's State and Local Fiscal Modernization Study Commission established by the Governor and General Assembly. Since that time, I have consulted on a regular basis with members of the North Carolina General Assembly.
